You may have seen this infographic on our social media lately! For those of you curious about how we get our food cost estimate, this article is for you!
The link above will take you to a list of average retail food costs created by Statistics Canada. To get our food costs, we converted all food products on the list to kilograms and then averaged the cost of all items together. After accounting for a 6% inflation rate, we found the average cost of food to be $7.03 per kilogram.
We are so happy that we are able to redistribute so much food and help those in our community!
